Even when she finds out that the blood she got wasn't from a mole, she still beieved that her son was cured. This article describes why people want to belive they're cured instead of actually looking for real treatment for their illness.
2. Remedies Utilizing Animals
This website describes different remedies that include the use of animal parts. After reading "Blood" I was interested to learn if there were any actual remedies that included parts of animals that people actually believe cure illness. This website is all about how and where moles live. This link is interesting because when I was reading "Blood" I wasn’t exactly sure what a mole was, so I found this website very helpful for defining exactly what a mole was and what they look like.
This website has information on animal blood banks, which I didn’t know existed before reading this website. In "Blood", a women asks the main character for the blood of the mole. This website shows that people are actually in need for animal blood and that there’s actually a place where they can access it.

This website has a list of medieval remedies that people in the middle ages actually believed could cure illnesses. This website doesn’t include a remedy that has mole blood in it but it does have some other pretty interesting cures. It’s very possible that "Blood" could have taken place a long time ago which would make it not too unusual for someone to believe in a far fetched cure for a disease.

In "Blood", the main character’s main flaw is that he’s to polite and gives his blood to anyone who asks for it. This article describes the problems that come with someone being too nice and how they can be taken advantage of by other people. The main character of "Blood" will probably end up dieing from being too nice.
The store owner could have also taken a religious aspect on it. In Matthew 6:1, the verse describes how when you give to others, you will be rewarded by God. He could have given his blood so that he could please his God, and to have felt he did the right thing. Also, the verse talks about how you shouldn't boast how you helped, which he didn't do. If he was a religious person, the author could have done it because of that, to be faithful.
