When I heard this piece, it made me think of “Chef’s House”. The first thing I imagined when I heard this song was an image of the couple enjoying each other’s company in the warm summer air by the lake. Throughout the piece the tempo changes a lot like the couple’s relationship changes throughout the story. At the very end of the score, the tempo becomes very slow and somber, much like how at the end of the story, the couple’s relationship has slowed down and they decide to part ways. The piece is fairly short like the couple’s summer and happy relationship. The beginning of the piece starts out a little slow and hesitant like the women is when Wes first asks her to live with him, but the song quickly speeds up the tempo which also represents how she quickly decides to move in with Wes.
The song repeats the same guitar pattern a lot which reminded me of how the women keeps getting into the same type of marriages with alcoholics. The same pattern also reminded me of how Wes is stuck in the same pattern of turning back to alcohol when he is faced with difficult situations, like giving up Chef’s house to Fat Linda. This piece has a joyful side which represents the joyful parts of the story when Wes and the women are enjoying the lake house and enjoying each other’s company. It also has somber parts, especially at the end which represents the lows of the relationship and the problems like Chef and Fat Linda that are shoved between the relationship and ultimately make the couple leave each other.
